I always ask what folks "bump on" when reading-- what took you out of the story? Bad dialog? Odd action line? A character acting, well, out of character?

A key tactic to your screenwriting is to get the reader comfortable. Do the work on the page, so they donβt have to. Look for flow.
A comfortable reader is more open -- more focused. And theyβre more willing to feel something.

"I ended up just reading the whole thing" is one of the best compliments.
I've always felt they are meant to be seen. Not read. They are a tool in the hands of filmmakers.
Also, continuity issues. If something on page 50 makes something on page 4 not make sense, I stop and go back to see if I missed something, and that breaks the rhythm.
