I've always loved the big ol' motor mount just chilling on top of the transverse GM V6s. Strong "That'll do" vibes.

Oh yes. GM has had all sorts of intricate technically-interesting engines that were killed off before they were fully developed.

Yep, then there was the Northstar-derived "shortstar" 3.5L V6 that Oldsmobile had from 99-02.

All of which are descended in spirit from the lovely-yet-also-underdeveloped LT5. (Had one. Liked it a lot but it needed a bit more time in the engineering incubator.)

The biggest GM powertrain tragedy is arguably the 2019-2020-only LTA Blackwing V8 in the Cadillac CT6.

Yes. I still want a CT6-V even though I know the Blackwing was taken out of the development oven well before it was ready.
(Secretly I think the CT6 is the best sedan GM has yet made. So of course it was discontinued.)

Yeah, they changed up the naming a few years after the weird "Twin Dual Cam" nomenclature. They should have just called it the QUAD 6.

Ohhh wow. I remember looking at these back when I was buying my 1st car, but I'm certain none had -that- engine.

Kinda wild that a dual overhead cam 3.4 liter V6 made only modest power like that

I think it was detuned to keep the transmission from blowing up.

Even though I know what a bad life decision it would be, I still want a Lumina, Grand Prix, or Cutlass with the DOHC 3.4L.
