I don't know how to keep telling white westerners this but
1) no country is going to offer Americans asylum, your understanding of border control and geopolitics is unbelievably dogshit
2) even if it becomes a thing, the process of applying for asylum is brutal and takes years

(the origional skeets gone so i don't have full context on it)
i feel like there's a certain fleur of white favouritism aiding these kind of cases
but that's just speculation
(Also maybe not the safest option since the far right is official opposition and basically everyone agrees they would have won if Trump didn’t shoot them in the foot).
Sure.
For individuals without those pre-existing networks, though 😬😬😬
This shit is why right-wing parties keep getting away with pushing for harsher and harsher laws because even the opposition believes their points.
Unless this Act is reversed you cannot claim asylum up north.
There's just a threshold that hasn't been reached yet where I am still relatively safe in Arizona and could go to a blue state.
Of course you're right to say it wouldn't be easy or quick if it does happen.
When things like this happen historically, there is generally an outpouring of sympathy from civilians in better countries who demand asylum processes.

If it gets to the point where Trump has unchecked power in blue states, people are going to be fleeing legally or illegally, and that creates certain pressures.
We have a particular history on this continent, people move around a lot, there is an understanding about it.
I don't want to be an asylum seeker. But I don't expect it would just be easy and straightforward so y have looked into the procedure.
They put you up in a motel while they investigate your story, and you can absolutely get kicked back out again over petty bullshit - but it's not like asylum is simply never done.
I agree it's not exactly something I aspire to, but it is done.
2) that's not how it works!
3) it's already almost too late to get out, see #1
4) the years needed to get asylum don't exist, see #1 and #2
It has to be a norm before asylum courts care, which is one of the actual structural flaws here, but nonetheless people do successfully seek asylum.
If that changes so does our status under the law.
meanwhile, none of these other western countries are going to want to annoy the us by accepting asylum claims of usians
But everywhere in the world hates migrants and hates refugees even more than that :/
I'm constantly thinking about how american propaganda is fucking nightmarish in how hard it is to see through from the inside out.
1) It is expensive as fuck. We're talking 5 digits expensive. If you aren't making close to 100k a year don't bother.
3) Most of the countries I looked at will tell you to move to a different state instead of applying for asylum. There has to be literally no safe place available before they'll consider a claim.
