True. It also may mean his full plan has not been disclosed or determined. Our housing crisis will require extreme measures to correct. We have 40+ years of neglect to fix. I certainly do believe we will make more progress under Carney than we would have under Poilievre.
I’ve voted different parties over the decades. I’m rarely a single issue voter. And at election time I will decide who I believe most reflects my values and vote accordingly. This crisis has been over 40 years in the making. It will not be solved overnight. Yes. I need to see progress.
I was excited about the Trudeau/ Fraser plan.We need affordable housing for ownership, rentals, social, seniors, supportive housing, unhoused, starter homes, & move up homes for families. Multiple options need to be included. As well I liked the plan to lease federal lands for affordable housing.
Land availability is not a problem except Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal. Money to construct infrastructures (roads, street lights, power grid, water mains, sewer mains, phone cables, gas mains, schools, parks, libraries, etc.) is. It’s about $100,000 per house.
I’m not sure where costs can be cut but we are a rich enough country to meet our countries bare minimum requirements. Perhaps a crown corporation in the affordable house building industry. Owners also pay municipal taxes.

But home owners don’t want tax hikes, and no affordable housing in my backyard.
