The same thing they did, without arbitrary destruction of civilian homes, destruction and targeting of health care staff and infrastructure, deliberate targeting of civilian gatherings, food blockade, medical blockade, pulverization of entire blocks. You know, an occupation without war crimes.

They had a problem with Hamas, nobody likes Hamas, not even the Palestinians. Target them, have mossad take out a few leaders, arrest the rest. If they did just that, nobody other than the arab states would complain. Solve the problem at hand.

Proportional response, which didn't happen. Pulverization of entire city blocks is not an appropriate response to tunnels in houses. A medical blockade is not an appropriate response to tunnels in hospitals. Mass shootings of stone throwing youths is not an appropriate response to protests.

That history is exceptionally messy and can be cherry picked. When hamas killed and captured that large a number on 10/7, a brutal response was coming. But it doesn’t seem to end.
