Yes, someone wrote the words of the Buddha. But look closer; anger is not the real problem - it's part of our human condition. We all get angry, even Siddharta did. It's clinging to anger and denial, letting it burn like wildfire. When we treat anger as a compass, we cannot be engulfed by the fire.🪷

I get what you’re saying, but I’m not quite sure I agree with “using” anger as a tool, or the wording of it as such. The Buddha seems pretty clear that when a defilement arises, it’s our job to eliminate it, not use it for any means.

I’ve heard Ajahn Sona give advice against the western idea of “righteous anger” and avoiding falling into the trap of anger being desirable and justifying it.

Ajahn Sona is right. There is no righteous anger. That is just another description for hate. Hate is a choice. Anger is a condition, like pain. I believe it all comes down to how we understand the words. A wound sends signals. It hurts - something is wrong. Anger shows us too. Are you to be a monk?🙏

Yes, but we must understand the nature of anger. We do not let it burn into rage. Buddha also said not to believe blindly. Anger as a compass shows us what we need to change; let's say, a system such as Apartheid. Or make laws that protect women and children from physical harm. Compassion
