This is what the filibuster has always felt like to me, it kept Republicans from doing bad things and it kept Democrats from doing good things. So, Republicans no longer have their excuse not to do the bad things. But Democrats will lose their excuse not to do good things. Hopefully, not too late.

My read on this is that the Trump EPA’s about-face on waiver vs rule just means we’re moving this particular fight from the Senate to the courts instead. Like, this is going to be immediately challenged and stayed.

Who knows long-term, though, once SCOTUS has a say.

That’s ultimately not how this works, the CRA is basically just a super rule of the House and Senate, and the Constitution explicitly grants each chamber the exclusive power to determine its own rules. The Senate gets to decide what it means, and can even decide it means the opposite of what it says

So Senate Republicans overruled the parliamentarian to bypass the filibuster! That is the essence of "going nuclear."

I don't understand why Senate Dems still believe repugs act in good faith. Just cause someone isn't openly rude to your face at the gym or DC cocktail parties doesn't mean they're an honest actor. This is similar to Durbin bringing back blue slips after repugs ended them.
