some other non-tariff items may go up due to
- increased demand
- staying afloat by hiking prices of both tariff/nontariff items to have lower % per item
- abusing customers' expectations of price rises
less profits may still mean job cuts for importers for example.
less sales are bad for jobs in a similar way, affecting all of the supply chain (less warehouse people, less logistics people, etc).
