I've been told by many friends that I should read Mort because it's very up my alley and a big reason I haven't yet is because I'm not sure what order I should read the books in or if I should just jump right into Mort.

There's pretty much no prior knowledge you need to read Mort and, for me, it's the first book that really nails the feel of the Discworld.
