Love the Tiffany Aching books (and the rest of the Discworld books). A couple of birthdays ago I got "when I'm old I shall wear midnight" tattooed on my arm
Granny’s one of the best examples in fiction of how nice is different than good, and like Sam Vimes, she’s interesting because she clearly understands her own capacity for evil, and has crafted her life into a machine for harnessing that power for good instead.
As a witch who has read and studied alllll the books for most of my 48 years - pratchett books are some of the best possible sources about witches and how to be one. Tiffany books are where it can be a curriculum of sorts.
And a witch can pick up a lot from Susan Sto Helit for REAL
I fully agree.
And once you accepted that it’s always up to you, things get easier.
(A little screaming and feet stomping every now and then can help, though.)
Btw, I love Terry showing in all his witches’ books that being a witch is all based everyday business, and no glamour whatsoever.
Have not read the Tiffany Aching books (yet) but this is a lesson I had to learn while backpacking; no matter how hard it gets, no matter how exhausted you are, at any moment there's two options; keep going, or give up die.
