I have a vague memory of going to see this at age 4 and my mom having to call someone to come get me when she realized it was too much for a 4 yo so she could stay with my older brother.
To me, Disney's best film, because it did not have to be any longer or shorter than it was. Nothing lengthened or trimmed for timing alone in edit that I know of.

Oh my goodness. Me too! Truly one of the most heartbreaking songs ever (especially in a cartoon 🥹). I had that same scene on my Facebook for a long time. It means even more now that my mom is gone.
You know what kills me? Last night was both a Disney and Mothers' Day theme on American Idol and never, ever, on nights with themes like this does anyone chose this song.

When my sister became a grandmother she created a video baby book for her daughter and this song accompanied the pictures. That's what I think of now, instead of that heartbreaking scene from Dumbo.
When our cat Pearl recently passed away, my husband compiled a video of her pictures, accompanied with Bill Withers’ Ain’t No Sunshine - now I can no longer listen to it without crying 🥺❤️
