The US had an outlier policy w/ COVID. EU nations opened their schools months earlier with no masking. The mental health and academic standing of our kids suffered horrendously & we still had the highest mortality rate in the world. 100% policy failure.
The problem with the Twitter format is that binary reductionism is a feature, not a bug. Evidence in Europe shows that opening schools had zero impact on community COVID infection rates. So grandma would’ve died either with the draconian school closures or without them.
It’s not that schools couldn’t have been opened earlier. It’s your assertion that school closures hurt kids more than seeing loved ones die.
It’s not the format. It’s that you keep doubling down. Saying “grandma would have died either way” means you are, at best, an extremely callous person.
A false dichotomy with a side order of sanctimoniousness. But it’s not the format! This is why I left Twitter when it was still Twitter. I’m a glutton for punishment, clearly.

Quarantines are a standard method of preventing the spread of deadly, highly infectious diseases -- and they work.
No one ever said they were fun.
