Absolutely.
And as the birthrate continues to decline immigration will rise.
The country won't function without it.
This point has to be made & understood.
Immigration is necessary & it should be easier to come here legally.
Also refugees should not just be allowed to work but actively encouraged.

Yes. A strong list. I'm asking myself, however, what stops Labour from articulating the pro-EU case now? Anti-EU backers, splitting the PLP, philosophical disinclination?I thought politicians fixated on polls; so, the course of action should be clear. It must be some sort of political dark energy.

Also Labour switching to an explicitly pro-rejoin position would actually be worse for the rejoin cause because the main obstacle to rejoining is not Labour's stance but the Tories', and Labour moving towards rejoin would push the Tories more anti.

Thanks, Paul. Doesn't feel like much of a way to run a modern state. But, yes, it's always "calculations" around power. It certainly will be difficult to reverse the Brexit decision in my lifetime, I do concede.

I think it's mainly calculations on the EU side - their first question to Labour will always be what happens if you lose the next election and as long as the answer is that the winner will immediately cancel everything then there can't be negotiations.

Yes. True. There must be an existential problem of trust, in the same way as with any complexion of future U.S. administration. What safeguards could there be? Maybe something technical in a future referendum, a super majority, a time built into the question. But, yes. Problems wherever you look.

In any event, para.1 shows something has to change. Para.2 would probably always garner large support in a poll - nobody really knows 100% what they are supporting or not ("closer relationship"). Para.3 is still over half of those asked. Anyway, I think I've made my own life choice. Thanks, Sam.

Farage doesn't have any policies to tackle Immigration. The messages ReformUK and Farage keep repeating are 'Illegal immigrants bad for UK' repeat it long enough it'll brainwash everyone. Up to this point refugees, students and working migrants are grouped into this category.

Farage will never admit Brexit has crushed the UK no matter what scrutiny says. He will brush it aside as old news and say it was never completed properly, blaming civil servants, Kenneth Clark and Brussels. No idea what he would done as (shudder) PM apart from a close relationship with Putin.
