Yep. Post-conquest American nations all began as overseas business propositions where elite beneficiaries sat back collecting vast profits off someone else's human misery... and they have never forgotten or denounced that legacy. Europe's "glory days" were built on Indigenous blood and bones.

Lincoln never personally liked slavery but even by 1864 the politics around it were difficult mainly because of the border states, which still has slavery. Lincoln didn't want them supporting the CSA

That's why the EP was done the way it was. It affected the CSA states (minus recaptured Tennessee)
