It depends on which standard we use to measure intelligence. If we take Trump's brain language modeling capabilities the LLMs can be considered super intelligent alien technology.

AI is artificial but not intelligent. I worked in software for twenty years… full of hype that never reflected reality. Programmers know programming and little else. They do not understand the data they “teach” the AI. Can be totally biased and fed crap.

They can make predictions. Specifically vector math predictions that vary by weight and probability functions. They predict, return results, self-analyze and incorporate said results into the next prediction.

I don’t know if we can call that “reasoning”. Not in its current form.
