Doesn’t she know that most of the people she grew up with, or met as adults, have been vaccinated? Vaccinating children was very popular for a few decades.

Also, people are more respectful of whether or not to hug people. So I’d guess that people who aren’t keen on being hugged—especially by strangers?—probably don’t fake being happy about it.
