Danish foreign minister Løkke Rasmussen noted that a 1951 agreement between the U.S. and Denmark “offers ample opportunity for the United States to have a much stronger military presence in Greenland. If that is what you wish, then let us discuss it.”
The response of a Danish Official when asked how they would respond to an invasion of Greenland was simple: “we would mount a rescue operation for them”.
