We all think plastic pollution is a problem, and it is. In the nearly 70 years between 1950 and 2019, the world produced a total of ~9.5 billion tonnes of plastic.
But all the plastic we have EVER produced weighs as much as CO₂ we emitted into the atmosphere during the first three months of 2024!

Yup.
Always be careful in this sort of argument, as you edge on supporting the petroleum industry’s arguments that plastic isn’t that bad. They are masters of words and will twist yours.
BUT
6 kg of CO2 roughly equates to 1 kg of plastic.
I stand by your point though - this is beyond a problem and is being ignored by the biggest polluters.

Dude burning 20 kg of gasoline in one day: fine bro no problem with that.

😂😂😂😂😂
Is the extra CO2 in the room with you now?
😂😂😂😂😂
Look out! Here comes the CO2!
Aaaaaaaggggghhhhhhhhh!
Suppose if you think about it the thickness of a plastic milk carton is dwarfed by the volume of a gallon of gasoline.

And plastic pollution - getting into the food chain and killing the environment / people anyway?
“Microplastics trigger uncontrolled cell proliferation and ensue tissue growth leading to various cancers affecting the lungs, blood, breasts, prostate, and ovaries.“
So, both terrible and urgent problems that threaten humanity.

Can we both make less CO2 when we manufacture AND consume some of what we have now?
First we get this juggle hand happening. Then get this other hand juggling its stuff.
So, oversight?
People can see the plastic pollution.
They cannot see the CO2.
