Many students were recently admitted to Harvard (to various programs), and even if Harvard gets an injunction the students may choose to go elsewhere thinking it’s risky and the may end up having to transfer. Even if Noem loses in court it has caused irreparable damage, at least for coming year 1/

For students, much of the college experience comes from the social aspect, not solely academics. Meeting people from other places with other ideas and perspectives makes for a richer experience. Having international students makes college better, broadening understanding and compassion.

Private institutions do charge more for out of state residents unless they have reciprocal arrangements with the student’s resident state. Usually seen for students who come from border states, like a WI school charged the same for MN, IL, etc but that’s it. (Worked at and went to private college)

That’s also the problem. Especially for the expensive private universities. They bank on accepting a large percentage of rich foreign students to subsidize their operations at the expense of 20-30% of U.S. students who get rejected from these schools solely because they can’t pay full rate.

Not if it is restricted. They cannot just take restricted funds from their endowment to cover government funds that have been stripped away. Furthermore, the Trump administration has not stopped and will not stop with Harvard.

20% of Harvard's endowment is unrestricted. That's $10.6 Billion. Much of the unrestricted money is under the control of the university's 12 schools, but it's still unrestricted and those 12 schools have a common interest in defending the university.

Too many schools (especially public ones) prioritize that $ over accepting students from taxpaying families. Much of the resentment towards universities stems from people’s frustration for their children.

I worked at a small private college in Washington for 12 years. International students were the University's bread and butter. They almost always pay full tuition, and are often subsidized by their government.
