"weirdos and freaks are ruining fandom spaces" i hate to break it to you but said weirdos and freaks are the reason you have fandom spaces to begin with

Fandom spaces are meant to be weird, cringe & freaky.
Do you have to engage with that part of the fandom? Nope. But you shouldn't be trying to police it either. Just block the freaks & enjoy your comfort, puritan area of the fandom.
Weird and freaky sure but I reject the notion that they're meant to be "cringe", as that's a concept enforced by very shallow people who get pissy that other people enjoy things.
Weirdos and freaks were here long before some of these losers were even alive/talking. Early 2000’s to mid 2010’s fandom was absolutely unhinged and it was such a great place.
I hear stories of 90's fandoms online with self-regulating forums ran by fans, containment threads to filter cyclical discourse, and a culture of "if you don't like it here, make your own!" and stare longingly like that picture of Squidward looking out of his window
"Don't like it here, make your own place and own rules" somehow became controversial. Unfortunately. Back then it was how new places formed and let folks find the best fitting place for them.
Furries that try to change their spaces to be more "wholesome" or less kinky to be as socially acceptable as possible
Buddy being a furry by itself is something outside the norm, you get nothing out off trying to appeal to the normies
