... Yesterday I was in the backyard with my ducks and a great big red-tailed hawk flew through the yard and landed in a tree by us. my Ducks came over and sat by my chair and then went underneath a covering. the Hawk had to go elsewhere for lunch yesterday. The Ducks reminded me of your corvid!

This is what is going on here. There are crows up in the trees above and this little guy is making sure when he gets his snack, no one is going to take it. Luckily, there is no real danger - just the risk of losing a late breakfast 😄

I don't know where you live but here in Eastern Ontario we have so many crows, hundreds go over my house every night on they way to their roosts I guess who seem to be migrants, we have several local families of crows that visit the feeders but not those waves of crows flying overhead.

If I go to the next village from where I live, there are lots of crows that are either assembling to fly en masse to return to the roosts or are already at their roosts. One night, on the edge of the woods, I heard crow sounds I've never heard since. I was in awe. I guess it's all about timing
