I take a prescription injectable. I ordered syringes from my bulk shipper over a month ago and got one box -- I order two, since I use one needle to draw, and another to inject.

Currently the other box is still on back order with the manufacturer

Syringes from China are being tariffed at 245%. Biden put 100% on them in Sept 2024. As companies look at costs a $0.16 syringe sold at $0.37 is a good margin ibut now it costs $0.552 w/o margin!

Well, strictly speaking as I understand it, this shortage predates the tariffs due to a recall of Chinese syringes over quality issues. Maybe not tariffs, but the FDA sure failed everyone. No warnings. Nothing. We'll see.

A US syringe manufacturer called out Chinese syringes for not following the spec. Most Chinese suppliers were and got off the FDA hold list. In 2024 Chinese syringes had a 50% tariff until Sept 2024 and it went to 100%. Now it's at 245%. I deal with this and other med devices all day long
