About 12 years ago I was in a bad car accident which necessitated being non-weight bearing on one leg for a couple of months. NOTHING is accessible but Walmart and Target and a few grocery stores. Until I experienced a mild temporary issue, I had no understanding of how deeply this cuts.
I know if I had a dollar for every time I had to lift my shirt to show my 12inch scar on my lower spine where they had to put a cadaver bone and 6 titanium screws in to rebuild my lower back when I parked in the handicap space with a placard on full display I would be a wealthy person
We do! I look fine-ish on the outside but have 3 terminal illnesses from my strokes. Survived 7 so far, heart aneurysm, blood clot disease, rare brain disease. Permanent aphasia; I used to be a clinical social worker fighting for rights of others. Now I need others to help fight for my rights.
Literally! They all think DEI is just a race issue. I lost my disabled brother in 2019 but I don't think he'd like living through these historic events.
Thank you. I fear we would have lost him to covid either way and now he'd lose his medicaid and medicare. He always got us to laugh. Thiz DEI stuff is downright disgusting but they want us big mad.

Disabled people exist. Yes. Most of them don't want to be, but that's how it goes.
So why exactly do I need to be reminded? Do you assume I forgot?
