im in the age range you're talking about and this is all just general music nerd stuff, nothing 4chan incel about it. is it really that surprising that the music nerd board on 4chan is full of music nerds?
i mean yes i agree it's all music nerd stuff and it's stuff i listened to as a teen also before whatever sensibility took over. but i have definitely seen many people make the association with it being /mu/-core or whatever, so that clearly exists in the minds of a lot of people.
thats probably true for internet people, but in my experience at least its not irl. most people i know either are the music nerd guy or have never heard of 90% of the stuff on the list.
ive for sure heard people making those associations but its usually through jokes made by people who are fans too
i think this was really happening in the late 2010's and there's still that stench on it for a lot of people but i don't get a sense that it's as big of a thing now. but i have def seen plenty of younger people refer to that kind of music as /mu/-core lol
it's really just general music nerd music that got embraced by this community and acquired a particular political connotation for a lot of people online of a certain age (i.e. teens) because of the cultural landscape circa 2016
yes it's just canonical music nerd albums. it's just that that stuff got a particular political valence in the mid to late 2010's so it's overwhelmingly associated with that particular context for a lot of people who were teenagers then because that's where they were hearing it

was pretty far away from the internet in those years playing in weird noise punk bands so I can see why I didn't get the memo
