A message for Starmer.

Zelenskyy was never going to get anything from Trump. Trump would have taken the minerals and given nothing in return.
Talk of mediation between Europe (Starmer) and trump are deluded. trump has already told Europe that he is out.

Worth noting that Trump just confirmed this at Andews. he admitted that even if Zelenskyy agreed to the US mineral deal, he would still not permit Ukraine to keep fighting.

Focus on making sure U.S. meets existing obligations for comms, logistics, munitions production etc while you find replacement strategies. Dont give him an inch to wiggle.
Seize the Russian assets & move on. Trump will threaten to leave NATO, he is going to leave no matter what. Do what must be done

Isn't it time to recognize that, in this new Trump-Putin reality, reconfiguring UK & EU defence to replace NATO will be a mountainous task - with the added challenge of supporting Ukraine singlehandedly.

Statements of outrage seem a bit meaningless when set against this new reality.

At the end of the day, our nuclear deterrent can be completely screwed if the US chose to, because we rely on them for it. In that context, I'm fine without instant PR reaction on social media on a Friday night after a bad meeting, when we've got a very consequential meeting set up in Sunday anyway.
