There is a great, free app called Goods Unite Us where you can look up companies to see where they donate their money. I am way into cancel culture. Consumers have been doing it for years, even before Republicans gave it a name.
There is another free app called Yuka, where you can check to see how products that you like are rated environmentally or for overall health. I use both of these a lot now, because so many times I think I am buying “green” when I am not.
Because small keeps allowing themselves to be bought out. Against all their originating principles in starting a small company. So sad & disappointing.
It's done on purpose, multi-conglomerate businesses exist to make sure that there are always profits from as many avenues of income brackets n consumer demographics as possible. Truly shopping small (or just ethically) is extremely difficult and try not to break urself over it. We do as best we can.
Oh this so disappointing! But thanks for letting us know! Hadn’t looked them up on the Goods Unite Us app! So disheartening some of the places I’d wrongly assumed would be Democratic donors! 😡
Sadly, the fellow who developed the brand slid back into addiction, and wound up having to sell his creation. Like you, I was stunned to learn of the new ownership, and haven't bought it since.
So pretty accurate, except ones public and one is private. If a person was identified from either company as “in charge” they would be a republican. Yes?
If you’re going to start boycotting companies because the CEO’s a Republican, I doubt that there will be many companies left…
But also, thanks to Burwell v. Hobby Lobby, there’s a significant difference to how much control private companies have over their employees vs. public companies.
I didn’t advocate, nor did I state I was boycotting anything. My post was addressing the correction you half made to the previous statement, that they weren’t entirely accurate.
Normal people don’t understand corporate structures or flipping Org Charts. For most Americans, the CEO and the “BOD” are a difference without a distinction.
Thank you for the Flowers bread info. That is good to hear and I will repost that info out.
Well, I just googled Bimbo, who owns Oroweat (as well as many other brands), and it says they are committed to ethical behavior and diversity, equity and inclusion.
That sucks .. they sell Dave's killer at 3.50 a loaf and have sales of 5bucks for 2. I'm on the buy 10 get 1 free list too. Used it 3 x . Aldi's sells great bread and it's cheaper than the store price of Dave's but I like my Dave's !!!!!ugh ... I guess it's time to do what's right .....
Between the conglomerates and the musical chairs the board members do every year between the conglomerates, just about ALL PRODUCTS come thru a VERY FEW companies. You 'think' you're keeping $$ from 'this' or 'that' company but by the time it circles around it's going a very limited route.
Do your homework, America! Put your money where it goes some actual good rather than filling the coffers of those who willingly will end your Rights and Freedom so they can make more money.
Scott-baking bread is literally nothing. Go on Google on search for easy bread recipes or first time bread baker’s recipes. In no time you’ll be making artesian bread. Rye, wheat etc. Find your own amazingness!! I promise you it’s soooo easy!! But good for you keeping your principles!! 💙💙💙
We use almond flour and make pie crusts with almonds or walnuts. There are so many delicious ways to go keto!! Best of luck and if I can answer any questions I promise not to send 3 replies!! I’m just excited to share this with you and your family!!
Plus many makers of cake mix now have Keto. The yummy without the bummy! You’ll start looking at food very differently. You’ll be happy with a couple chips & not the whole bowl. You’ll learn to make cookies, candy low keto. I swear it’ll open your life up. Amazon has snacks treats all keto!
Expand it Scott. My husband has so much fun baking bread. To be honest-I live with cancer. I’m ok at present but we’ve redone how we eat. I like being 5’8” at 125 pounds. Keto is an awesome way to go. You’ll eat so much healthier. Check Amazon, Sam’s Club for Keto goodies. Cheese meat most vegs-👍🏽💙💙
I began baking my own bread about a year ago. Could I have done this when all my kids still were at home? No. But now? It’s sooooo easy (I use one-rise recipe) everyone should bake their own.
Yeah I found that out a while ago. I liked those hamburger buns too. Now I only get local bakery bread. It is more of a PITA to find and not always available when you want but not buying Daves any more.
It is so disappointing. No wonder everything costs more. It's Republican millionaires and billionaires that run our of the country and it is only going to get worse.
That is disappointing, I used to eat Dave's Killer Bread often. Don't eat many carbs these days. But I did just buy some Goya Coconut Milk tho. No more. Thx for the heads up.
You do you.
Tracing the money ultimately leads to pointless ends. Where do you stop, major shareholders? Minority shareholders? Mom's pension? I guarantee some of the money you're paying just to post here is funding evil by that broad definition.
I bake my own bread. Easy to do. No politics. Freezes for future supply.
4 cups King Arthur flour
2 eggs
1/4 cup Buttermilk or Buttermilk powder
2 TB vegetable oil
4 TB Butter
2 tsp salt
1/4 cup sugar or honey.
1 cup warm water.
2 packs fast rising yeast
This is a similar recipe that has the information. I use a beard machine for the mixing and first rise. Then I remove it, shape and place in loaf pans for 2nd rise to be at least double 60-90 minutes. Bake at 375°F. 18 minutes/til golden brown. The recipe below is good too.
Baking bread is a meditation, honoring our Ancestors' traditions and creating our own gifts of love to our friends and family. Great gift with homemade soup anytime. That's how I become a bread baker after I received the gift of homemade bread and soup when I was severely ill. Best gift EVER 🥰
My shortcut bread - equal parts self-rising flour and plain, 2%, live culture yogurt. Does not work well in a bread machine. Just mix as thoroughly as possible, knead a lot, accept that it won't rise much before baking, but otherwise do all the basic bread stuff. Once it's baked, yum!!
Sounds easy and good! Good for a quick bread! Reads similar to Angel Sppon Biscuits.
I cheat making biscuits using self rising flour, butter or oil and buttermilk. The dough is more like a sticky batter.
I don't roll them out,I do the spoon of batter/mix onto a cooking pan.
I will try your recipe 🍀
There's just a hand full of companies that own ALL the brands you see on the shelves. That's how they caused the cost of living charade to make Biden look bad and get their tax cuts from trump.
True- and that promise to get prices down… That greedflation is just too yummy to give up- no way prices are coming down now that the piggy’s got a taste.
The “goods unite us” app helps me navigate a little. It’s very hard to patron no “republican donating” companies, but the app helps guide some decisions (I.e shop at PetSmart not Petco- go to Supercuts not great clips etc…)
Oops! I just bought a loaf today for the first time. I guess I should have figured it out when I was seeing lots of adds for it. It started as a local brand.
There was a time when Dave owned and led the company. He sold it and now it isn’t. It happened quite a while ago. Look for a new favorite. It will be different. C’est la vie!
careful... that's a long road and if you keep going, it won't be long until you can only ethically eat what you produce yourself, which they've also made nearly impossible and unsustainable to maintain 😎👍
I agree with this thread in principle but I'm already getting exhausted and it's important to choose our battles. I watched Hepseth yesterday and couldn't manage Bondi. Baking my own bread sounds lovely but not likely to happen on the regular.

Good Unite Us
An app that displays what companies donate where -
You can then make decisions where to spend your $.
Hopefully they'll offer local merchants at some point.
I’ll look into that!👏👏
Marketing apparently works.
Flower Foods is a publicly-traded company, so it doesn’t have a single owner. There is an associated PAC, which mostly funds Republicans.
But also, thanks to Burwell v. Hobby Lobby, there’s a significant difference to how much control private companies have over their employees vs. public companies.
Thank you for the Flowers bread info. That is good to hear and I will repost that info out.
Have a good night.🌙
I just started using their products for protein, calorie & nutrient levels!
Dave, baby - you are SO off my list.
Oh my god just fuck everything!
I fucking hate repubs
Dave’s is owned by Goya!!??!!
Damn
Good bye Dave’s

Bunnies love it. I will never buy it- it’s expensive
many of these smaller parts of big corporations function almost completely independent of the top tier.
Don't give money to fascists.

How long baking?
What temperature?
Ugh! I despise cooking and baking. 🤣
I cheat making biscuits using self rising flour, butter or oil and buttermilk. The dough is more like a sticky batter.

Until you figure it out
Not gonna inform us.
We all mushrooms 🍄
Dark shit
I love(d) that bread…ughhhhhhh
Buy local. Plenty of bakeries and shops.
I’ll ask?
I know the assignment. I will wield my purchase power appropriately.
Pro tip: use the Goods Unite Us app. GUU
#TheResistance
I only buy Sourdough from Izzio bakery, from Sprouts San Francisco style bread
