Yeah they're all blind to the impact that coal has on the landscape. They yell and scream about off shore wind but never hear the same idiots scream bout offshore oil rigs which, by the way, also like oil rigs are not visible from land.

Can’t believe he can say that with a straight face. And I heard Michael McCormack saying wind turbines were a blight on the landscape. Rural and regional communities do the heavy lifting in energy production and it’s time the govt of the day sold the renewable story more effectively to them.

It's only the above ground renewables that concern the Nats. The damage caused by the ever-expanding mining of lithium and other 'renewables' minerals doesn't seem to create the same distress.

I'm a farm kid. We HAD a mixed farming property with 3x dairies, a small herd of sheep & beef cattle. We got a letter from the NSW Govt saying negotiate with the coal company who wants your farm or we'll "take" it. The reaction from the local Nats MP was essentially it sucks to be you.

I will never EVER understand why rural communities vote Nats. They are diametrically opposite everything people need/want. I always laugh when my old friends complain about lack of services etc. Nats have a stranglehold over them like the GOP does in the Midwest. Vote against everything you need.

Many towns in the Hunter suffer from significantly worse health outcomes, especially breathing problems. The whole place is blanketed in dust whenever it is windy. What once was forest and grasslands, has toxins leaching into the water table. It will never be restored because that's far too costly.

Contrast this to the New England Solar far up the road from me, built on marginal (rocky) farm land that can still support 2000 sheep grazing under the panels.

Creating hundreds of jobs and clean power for thousands of homes. Opposed by all the local cookers.
