Watch the Canadian elections as a harbinger of what our midterms will look like. Canadians have turned against Trump based on his 51st state rhetoric, his tariffs, etc. If the liberals win in Canada, the GOP in the US should beware of the midterms due to the increasing concern with Trump‘s policies.

Midterms are too short a horizon to do justice to this phenomenon. Trump is just a symptom of an underlying movement, and Canada pivoting away from US will be due to the recognition that US will be an unreliable partner for some time to come.
