I know this is satire, but it’s also true. I remember working in a Big Chain Cafe, when food was past its Sell By date we had to take photos & document throwing it out. Even though it was still perfectly edible! We never got to take unsold baked goods home.

In the 90's I was working on a residential roof with a guy who liked to wander. It was the day after Thanksgiving, and I find the guy eating turkey from a carcass with lots of meat still on it out of the next door's garbage can. Told me he hitchhiked all over, and ate from fast food trash.
