I meant SAGE. In my small experience as a sleuth, they're not always very quick at correcting (retracting) fraud, so I tend to interpret -maybe overinterpret- it as favouring profits over science...

I’ve worked with Sage on a retraction. They were slow and deliberate, and it was frustrating. But they did the job exactingly.

I don’t think that the profit motive needs to be terribly at odds with an occasional retraction. They have an infrastructure for processing a retraction.

I think that they weigh the probability of a law suit a lot more highly than the rest of us. They certainly have deeper pockets, and are therefore the preferred target.

To speed up matters, once they agreed but before they released the text, I went to social media with an announcement.

there's a local magazine here that will publish fringe ideas and things of questionable validity, never checks sources, isn't peer reviewed... and its name happens to be "The Irish Journal Of [not saying]"
