It's also so fun to collect and neatly arrange the said collection of albums and songs into folders in a way that I like, something I never got with Spotify. I'll stay listening to .mp3s off of my external HDD, ty.
It feels good knowing that artists get a bigger cut when I make a purchase, and I get to download DRM-free, high quality audio files. Nothing ever disappears from my collection, and I don't have to pay a fascist podcaster's salary.
For as long as I've subscribed to Spotify, I don't think it has ever helped me find new artists using any of their tools. I've always found new artists through word of mouth or artists working with the artists I like.
I think even with that, it was useful like 12 years ago. I think at some point with all of the artists I follow, I would just use the release radar to find out if any artists of mine release new music.
