It's actually shocking (and cool!) to me how OC art seems to be welcomed and appreciated here, over on twt if I drew my OC I knew I had to brace for an atomic flop because no one gives two shits about that stuff over there

I totally agree - I stopped using twitter long before Elon took it over but even before that people were just so negative to artists 🫠 I fuckin love seeing other peoples art, though - Its cool to see how creative others are
Twitter’s algo was a digital gaslighter, tricking artists and writers into thinking our original work had no value, moving here has been immensely liberating. ^_^
I'm not an artist myself but i do enjoy my OC alot, And i am happy i could come up with something great with my thinking! got some others to draw it for me and they turn out great <3
these are the ones all drawn by one singular person! wish i could tag her but she still kinda uses twitter and not BlueSky. My OC accidently got made when i was creating something on roblox and i just loved it! First OC that i have and i love her to bits!
I think it's the difference in vibe. Other sites are built on numeric engagement, and bluesky is smaller and still thriving on personal interaction. Artists wanna talk to artists about art. It's a nice feeling.
TBH, I scroll through BlueSky to see all the awesome art people create. I had a twitter account but I never did anything there. I get excited to see new art each time that I open this app up 😃
It goes a long way, just having a website that actually respects and actively supports artists instead of just treating art like another fandom tag. Genuinely, it's so amazing to see

Not only does it affect OC art heavily but it also affects art of fandoms of series/franchises that aren't officially relevant or are in the least bit obscure
(If you don't have a following already, or actively interact with others who openly post about it for a long period of time, of course)
That is absolutely true, I've fallen victim to hesitating to draw unpopular franchises purely because I knew it'd be a waste of time besides like, the joy of drawing it
Same with writing. Not just for EEnE RF but for fanfics and writing things like that in general for me. I feel demotivated to write them when I feel/know that barely anyone will read it, since I have other hobbies I could do instead that I have more direction with

Just got here in this app exactly for this. I miss sharing my silly little characters and seeing other people’s too. There is such a good community feeling in celebrating Oc creation I am so glad this app can provide it
I think that biggest priority for artist is to draw whatever they like and shouldn't really focus on that engagement. If you are lovable, people will come to you
I love fanart as much as the next guy, but I live for OC stuff. I love learning about other people's characters and the worlds they live in. Whenever I comm art, I always find a way to get my OCs into fun situations with either the artist or another commissioner's OCs.
Art gets drowned in obscurity on that platform, here it is like a fresh start where people can actually find each other. That is what I like about it here.
Oh no yeah I'm sure it's a lot of that. I'm not amazing at posting a lot, but I definitely haven't gotten a lot of interaction otherwise, even if I use hashtags and repost (0 followers lol)
If I understand correctly bsky doesn't rely on an algorithm (as much) so I encourage you to make connections with other artists that will lift your art up! Bsky fosters a sense of community and I think that's very valuable

Although there are a lot of established oc artists over there, which is nice.
But I deffo think Bsky will be overall better for smaller artists as the algorithm is way better here :3
But Musk will surely find a way to ruin even that.
