I have asked the WH and not gotten an answer. 68% is roughly (a little high but close) to the share of households that would see a tax increase if TCJA expires Dec. 31.

So that's a working theory.

Could also be some sample household, maybe income-tax only? Dunno.

Trump keeps saying that taxes will increase by 68% if the GOP bill doesn’t pass, but that number’s far from any realistic scenario.

Does anyone know how he ended up with 68%, or was it just pulled out of thin air?
