also: cowards, 2 digits for the MHZ display? make it a 4 digit and write a little program to sync it to the current CPU speed. Modern CPUs throttle all over the place! average the current core speeds, and stick it on there.

The irony is that you would HAVE to average it; If you displayed the actual clock speed at all times of a modern compy without some sort of limiter it would just appear as an 8888 flicker-fest. :P

before we got screwed by tariffs i used to get ads on aliexpress for LCD screens that could do the equivalent of those digital readouts for about the same price. they'd cost about $100 or more now.

Many of them had two options that were set with jumpers on the back of the display PCB; One for turbo, the other for non-turbo. Had one with a 233 MHz K6, set it to display "Ed".

Yes, it works out to 237 if you convert from hex, but it was friendlier than "E9", which looked like an error code.

With AMD CPUs being extremely responsive to undervolting, an overclocking profile that simply enables PBO and does a slight undervolt would work too, while being way less risky than most overclocking.

But the real question is: Does the turbo button ramp things up when pressed or depressed?

on the old PCs it was a key lock, apparently on this one it locks out the power button. So you can turn off the PC, lock it, and you need the key to turn it back on
