College students protesting new housing will always remain funny to me. Have any of these people taken even 30 seconds to think about where they are going to live after they graduate?

I went to penn state, to be fair this much more likely to be faux outrage over losing a drunken tradition than any actual ideological opposition to high rises.
It was never gonna be in State College, whether or not a high rise goes up - no local job prospects. It's a town of 40k, with 40k students on top. PSU is the largest employer and have been in a hiring freeze for a couple years. Regional industry is largely gone, small business are dwindling. 🤷♂️
It's amusing really, because they're essentially reeling against the vibe of a thing being made for relatively rich people, which indeed this is, but are missing the fact that this is only the case precisely because of people like them preventing housing from being built in the first place.
