My #AltCitizen of the day is Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune. She climbed a burning ladder, broke through the bulletproof glass ceiling, and said, "black girls should not have to deal with this bullshit." (I paraphrased a little.)

So she took her last $1.50 and created Bethune-Cookman University.
