If a game remake is more accessible than the original, if it has a lower barrier of entry, it is more likely to be accepted as the new replacement. Look at the remakes of RE1-3. Fans are begging for a remake of 5 to “fix” the original and if it’s anything like 4R it will be their “replacement”.

Reminding me of how some Sonic fans seem to consider Project 06 as basically the replacement of Sonic 06 because not only does it seem to fix a lot of stuff about the original (well, barring the story), it's also a LOT easier to play, heh. (Might be wrong, though)

Fair enough. I am okay with remakes if they take an existing story into a new/innovative direction I just personally tend to draw the line with shot-for-shot remakes or ones that lean-in way too heavily into the previous film that any changes just become distracting.
