I'm in River North and my condo faces East & South. I notice the apartments across the street, despite facing North, get quite a lot of sun because it ricochets off my building into theirs.

The reflectiveness reminds me of that one hotel that was constructed and was basically a massive lens that fried a gigantic chunk of the city.

Thank you! What hotel was that?? I remember something similar happened with Frank Gehry’s Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles—they had to go back and grind the stainless steel panels to make them less reflective.

It was the Walkie Talkie skyscraper in London actually. Basically it was covered in glass with a slight curved angle that it brought some areas up to 70* C or 150+* F. Guess the architects forgot physics class. Here's a video on it:
