Something I'll write more on someday is how "white feminist" easily became a discursive specter to dismiss the necessity of all feminism writ large, by associating feminist causes with a privileged or collaborationist perspective.

I get the impression that a lot of American women feel that as long as they make nice with men ('I'm not one of those man-hating feminazis! let men be masculine!'), they'll be spared by the entire climate going on in the US. Don't think that's how it works though.
