Initial googling tells me he was accused in 2022 of covering up child sexual abuse by priests, by the women who had gone to him for support for childhood abuse. He recommended they go to civil authorities and he would open a canonical investigation. The women said the investigation was not made.

Serious question Louise, in your experience, what survivors fare best in the long run, those who receive acknowledgment, compensation, or just the luck of having supportive loving connections?
I have in mind that it is often the vulnerable who are chosen by abusers as their victims.

I don’t think it is an either/or. But yes, perpetrators do often choose the vulnerable. And through meeting hundreds of victims and survivors, all the wonderful family support in the world is sometimes not enough. Lives are ruined, promise is not fulfilled. They deserve to be compensated.
