I’m not sure it’s a Luka Doncic level of surprise honestly.Ever since the Red Sox brought in Alex Bregman, Rafael Devers wanted no part of helping the team at all. However, I might be crazy but I think both teams won the trade. Red Sox got rid of a unhappy player and the Giants filled a hitting spot

You’re not crazy. You’ve just put a little more than surface level thought to it. The Sox are pretenders this year anyway so making a move that replenishes the farm system with a high potential bat for when they are ready to be real contenders works and if they get frisky now they added pitching.

It seems to me for as long as I recall playing and coaching you want players who are willing to do whatever it takes to help the team win. When a player isn’t willing to, it’s only a matter of time. Not to mention he was making it public how much he was not willing to do. Not close to Luka level.
