One of my most niche favourite games is called Fur Fighters. I only played the PS2 version (Viggo's Revenge) which changed the graphics to be cel shaded, but this is a third person shooter designed like a collectathon platforming game and I love it to death.

Just some minor notes:
Aside from Start, Select, R3 and L3, EVERY button on the PS2 is analog via pressure sensitivity, much like the Original Xbox's controller. Few developer's took advantage of them though.

GD-ROM space is only 1.1GB, GameCube was 1.4GB although most games cap at 1.34GB

GD-ROM protection was never "defeated" in a normal hacking sense. What happened was around late 1999/early 2000. A group called "Utopia" managed to steal a KatanaSDK unit from Eidos Europe and on it was the scrambling tool necessary to create MIL-CD discs.

Utopia took that scrambling tool and embedded it into the "Utopia Boot Disc", this boot disc would de-scramble burned games to run on a Dreamcast whilst bypassing region locking.

By late 2000 onwards. Most Dreamcast games autoboot with the scrambling tool built in to skip that step.

And some very late DC releases like SA2 and PSO have additional anti-piracy protection on them since by then Sega knew the SDK was leaked with the tool. Hence the last board revision removed support.

Sadly, since hackers had the same tools, it was a wasted effort.

Homebrew games are made with KallistiOS: A Linux based OS and toolkit designed to run natively on a any Dreamcast. Dreamshell is a desktop like OS that works in tandem with it to manage VMU data via Serial port, launch discs or even load ISO's via adapters and hardware mods.

I still love my Dreamcast, even though it's now yellow instead of white (which is weird because I don't even smoke...) I still remember running a long phone cable to the nearest wall socket just to play ChuChu Rocket online because playing online was such a novel idea (plus the game was fun!)
