Sure, what I meant was more about the author's care to avoid even saying the actual word(which is eventually buried in the article) than what Slovakia(and several other European countries) is doing.
The whole picture is extremely complicated, very few people know all the details. You have contractual obligations, politics and corruption on many levels.
It’s not extremely complicated: Slovakia needs to get oil/gas, Fico is Russian dildo for that reason and retain power, he will go for cheap option of Russian gas, problem is how to get it as pipeline is on Ukraine soil.Fico trash talk Ukraine and wasn’t willing to help them and now he needs Ukraine.
He gains a little something but he loses 100x more, namely trust & respect of European partners forever. It is not very wise. He should put his ego aside.
