The EU’s tech fines are a “tariff” on U.S. companies and the bloc is going in the “wrong direction” with its tech regulation, Meta’s top lobbyist Joel Kaplan said today.

That mf can go f himself. We have such laws and regulations because Europe actually cares for its citizens and their human rights. We don’t want mass surveillance and end up in the same f’ed up situation as in the US where mega-corporations are the defacto government.
Well Mr Kaplan, obviously you are trying to lecture the EU because we have rules? 💅
Well it’s true that in US there are no rules anymore…
we just need to see what Musk is currently doing with the servers of the Treasury department, right ?
so please no lecturing and go see first in your shop …
Fines are usually imposed when rules and regulations are not complied with; the imposition of the fines generally occur after some judicial review process. The same cannot be said for tariffs.
Linking EU fines to “tariffs” marks the beginning of the narrative justifying why the U.S. will impose tariffs on the EU. Watch which other big tech companies will amplify this narrative, ultimately serving the interests of the Trump administration.
META can go shit itself...rancid bunch...they're as disgusting as a rotting corpse. I hope the EU tariffs them to death. Europe will outlast this piss'n'tail corporation that jumped up only 20 yrs ago. Europe should distance itself from the United States. They are completely toxic now.
With the orange and President Musk in charge and the nice try to demolish not only US economy but their neighbors as well, my first instinct was: hey, what if just ignore the hell out of them and intensify the market between Canada/Mexico and EU? Problem solved 🤷♀️
Are they going to try a d bully us into using their shite. Boycot the fkrs.. and get working on an EU version so we dont have to keep putting money into American pockets
This language is simply to lay the groundwork
to make US' expected tariffs on the EU look a legitimate retiliation. I dont see how WTO's Dispute Resolution Body will ever buy this, but arguments and counterarguments will be made ad nauseam
Once the secondary mechanism on minimum taxation starts, all the EU subsidiaries of the real big US companies will pay the taxes for the US companies in EU if Trump gives them too big tax breaks. Worldwide minimum taxation 15% - the big ones pay less at home? Then the subsidiaries pay it abroad.
Europe is absolutely right. Big Tech isn’t just a 'product' to tariff—it’s direct access to minds, voter opinions, and a powerful tool for manipulation. I urge everyone to disconnect from platforms that support fascism. Take control of your digital influence.

Sounds like Trump?
If Zuch does not want to comply with our regulations, he can just pull the plug...
New platform would replace his products in weeks...

But honestly, the world would be a better place without Zuckerbergs Meta.
