French Prime Minister François Bayrou questioned the European Commission's decision to hit American bourbon and other products with tariffs as part of an escalating tit-for-tat trade war between Washington and Brussels.

Good…. At least someone out there is looking not to inflict blanketed harm on all of Americans, unlike our own country. Thank you to the countries targeting the voters who want this Nazi in power.
It's not blanketed. To be called bourbon, it has to be developed and produced in a very small region deep in red State America, which makes it a perfect target. And definitely shows he's ignorant or lying.
True but with 95% of it from Kentucky and the rest from the surrounding red States, it is a very targeted tariff that won't affect blue states. Plus Canadian producers are looking at ignoring the only in America bs and starting production in Canada.
The French PM, the guy who is the leader of the country with the "Champagne Region" is probably lying. He probably likes to sip bourbon and like most folk who are spoiled into thinking they can get whatever they want, doesn't want to lose access.
He needs to realize that the Trump lead United States of QAnon is actually determined to destroy Europe, per the instructions of Lord Hierophant Vladimir Putin.
"Bayrou stressed that France's cognac sector risks again to be taken hostage of the transatlantic trade tension at a moment in which it is already a collateral victim of another trade spat between the EU and China. "
Actually, a very valid point.
Champagne is a district in France.
Because no other country in the EU has local alcohol? Is France going to send subsidies to Germany and Poland for the loss of beer sales? Or what about all the other countries who aren't selling pretentious wines?
There's an interview with JD Vance floating around, I think it's that talking head Laura Ingraham he's talking to. In it he's discussing Europe and it's all Nazi talking points. About the only word missing was purity.
As a common trade union+, it is unfair to have 1/few countries suffer the retaliation alone.
EU should assist. The money coming in from tariffs on DonT products, should be directed to support those areas targeted.
Same should go for PRC targets.
Trump's tariff war if it goes up to 200% on all EU alcoholic beverages🇪🇺 and you want to lower them he takes us for the weak. You could propose a 15% on all technology and web services from Amazon Google Meta ❌ Nividia Walt Disney Microsoft and so on. All listed on the stock exchange
Don't be ignorant. He knows exactly what he's talking about. He's criticizing tariffs on whiskey because he doesn't want countertariffs on French wine.
Maybe don't be insulting when you have no clue who you're talking to. Make your point, fine, but this bullshit only divides people. Most pols will say anything to try and protect big business. It's common knowledge.
These EU tariffs, aimed at the constituencies of US Republican politicians, were already approved from previous US shenanigans but suspended when the US suspended their previous steel & aluminium tariffs. US steel & aluminium tariffs back on? Old EU tariffs back on. New tariffs to be agreed later.
A little bit of solidarity from the French PM would be appreciated. He needs to understand that if he goes on TV to talk just to the Cognac folks, *everybody else* can hear what he says.

What a dumb thing to post.
I wasn't advocating for support to France only
My msg was - as a Union, we help our own
No matter who is targeted
We are united, we defend ours
Be it Greece,SP, POL, FI, SW, GER or other member - it's a member,we support
Deep down, it harms individuals. Humans.
So does allowing or being silent about fascism when it's on the rise. France is a country who should know this.
France is renown for food & drinks.
Targeting them from PRC & USA is easy.
Unfair that France alone should suffer.
Hence, as a Union, we should support those who are specifically targeted.
If you think it is *dumb* for us to share the burden together, so be it.
It sucks. But I'll still take a trade war over a physical war and I'm not exactly sure we aren't marching to that war.

We are united. United we share.
And it wouldn't be effective to just hit industries. Trump doesn't care until he feels a pinch from his businesses or those of donors.
