The leaders of the G7 countries on Monday issued a joint statement saying Iran should not have nuclear weapons and affirming Israel's right to defend itself.

If Israel has a right to 'defend' itself, doesn't Iran also have that right? The shameless doublespeak of calling an aggressive unprovoked act of war by Israel "defense" is shocking. No wonder 'The West' has no credibility in the world when we lie so reflexively as it suits our strategic interests.
The world leaders seem to believe they are doing the right thing by defending and justifying all Israeli government’s atrocities and unlawful actions. I think this just shows they support Israel’s conviction to be above the rule of law and will only exacerbate public opinion’s resentment.
Is Israel the only country that has the right to defend? I am very confused. They attack first, and then the friends shout they have the right to defend.

The G7 undermined the international rules of order they pretend to uphold. According to this statement any country can attack another country on the grounds it needs to defend itself. Its exactly the excuse Putin used to invade Ukraine from 2014 and Hitler used to invade Soviet Union in 1941.
Israel is imposing its will again.
Back in 2002, Netanyahu lied about Iraq's nuclear capabilities to convince the US Congress that war with Iraq was necessary. This seems to have worked out well for him, as he is now repeating the same tactic.
