The only "good" thing in this tragic story is the amazing development that the police discovered that a friend of her partner was convicted of murder not long after she went missing.
He was asked to give a statement and just confessed to the murder and where he hid the body!

It sounds like the only people she was still in regular contact with were also the ones involved in her murder. Apart from her children, who must have been too young to do anything or realise their dad's story wasn't up to scratch. Very sad indeed.

We have neighbours that basicly never speak to anyone in our street. They are barely outside and everything is shut closed. The guy works late (probably a cook) and her, i dunno, might be full time mom, or at home business. Their little kid, we have no idea if its school going age yet.

Its these type of families we kinda worry about. Like, what are the home dynamics and what noises are normal and ok, and what are domestic violence or danger?

Other neighbours make lots of noises, cause mom is slightly deaf and son is autistic (and maybe adhd).So telling which house is making noise

These stories occur to me every time someone invokes the trope of immigrants as a threat to European women. As if all the Belgian, Dutch, Austrian etc psycho men we hear about every few months, and the women they’ve raped or murdered, don’t exist.

There are just no words for this - one wonders how her life had been before contact with her *own* family was broken enough that they weren't there for her, either... abusers always try to isolate their partners from "bad" outside influences.

Since she already cut contact at 18, my guess would be that her family was also abusive , as that makes you suspectible to partner abuse too. Cause even if your daughter 's partner isolates her from you, to not care to even spot her for 20 years, in a town of 25k people?

I'd imagine the kids did miss her (some are still in their teens) and were probably powerless (and then manipulated later on by dad, who appears also to have been arrested now)

I would imagine dad lied to them and told them she abandoned them, and they cried many tears all their life over being abandoned by their mom, only to now learn she was murdered most likely jointly by their dad. Heart wrenching

To be clear, the current state is that a "family friend" confessed to the murder and said where he dumped her body, but her body has not yet been found.

This is utterly bizarre. How did it take so long for the school to notice something was wrong? I can’t imagine the staff of the school not noticing the sudden absence of a mother — or, worse still, being indifferent. I think this is a symptom of how sick a society or a community can be.

This is my nightmare. About 13 years ago my then-bf and I discovered his nextdoor neighbor dead in the bathtub. He'd been there for 6 months and no one noticed. It made my brain go to dark places and I ended up with PTSD. No one should die alone and forgotten like that.
