Long overdue. They've headlined the previous 6-7 X movies. Let them stay dead for a few movies, while Cyclops and Storm lead the team against less often explored threats: we still haven't seen a faithful or good version of Mr Sinister or Apocalypse.

This is why I think it would work, and be bonkers, if they adapted the Brood Saga as the first movie. Forces a small team, they can talk about how there are other X-Men on Earth, it'll be a space adventure, to show the franchise can go anywhere, and it is the Brood Saga, let's adapt it!

I think it’d have to be a sequel or spinoff of Charles/Erik-anchored movies, but Cable + Cannonball’s New Mutant X-Force, where they are young, outlawed, and an awkward presence for the sanctioned X-Men could be terrific.

Hopefully not like The Gifted. Regardless of our feelings towards Charles, him and Magneto are anchors for the concept of the franchise. Without them you would have to find new characters to center the ideological conflicts around. I'm not sure anyone else would do as good of a job in that role.

Outback era adaptation. It could be a combination between Sergio Leone, Terrence Malick, and Bertolucci. Maybe the exact project to reverse the decline of the superhero movie.

A breath of fresh air. They are pillars of the franchise but they always used to recreate the either 60s or 90s relaunch feelings we need something more even just to have most of the x men to feel more mature. Especially the 05

If they did The Brood Saga, using the actual xenomorphs instead of their knockoffs, no one would notice/care that Prof X & Mags weren't in it.
