I can just picture the amount of people who are going to die now while searching for instructions on the internet on how to set their voicemail message.
Also, can't set your voicemail if you can't get cell service. If you could get cell service, you could get help.
This false. You access your voicemail through the network. If your battery is dead you cannot access the network. If your battery dies you can only access VM from a landline or another cell phone. Spreading this misinformation is dangerous.
Why would you do the first thing when you can do the second?
This idea is based on a fundamental misunderstanding of how the cellular phone system works. It's too late to delete it, but it's not too late to admit it's wrong.
Okay, apparently it won’t work if you don’t have a signal but this would be good to do before setting out on any hike or camping trip as a back up plan
I’d forget to change it back, and then two weeks later someone who hadn’t heard about that escapade would have the whole thing out looking for me again.

If you do NOT have a signal, then you cannot change your voicemail.

You can't change voicemail without a signal.
End of story.

Thank you.
Also, in case people don't know, I have a USB charger, the size of a cellphone (fits in a pocket), that will recharge a cellphone about 4 times
It's handy for hiking, camping, long trips, anytime you think your battery might run out.
