One of the many paradoxes of Reform UK.
They say we can reduce reliance on low-wage immigrant labour in social care by paying workers better
but they want to drive down costs of local government (and hence social care)

and also they assume that half the people currently on long term sick are perfectly fit to work (and in shortage occupations that rely on immigration - even though they are often very physically demanding jobs)
e.g. Farage: "re-open steelworks" and also Farage "I support Trump (who is slapping big tariffs on steel imports
Or "Re-open closed and flooded mines at great expense"
"But only immigrants will want to work in them and the coal will be prohibitively expensive"
"we would not need to rely so much on low wage immigrant labour if we paid employees better"
But
"we are opposed to protection workers' rights, protections and conditions and want mass de-regulation"
(Local government being the latest example)
