They seem blind to the fact that the total output of the UK is dependent on the current working population so there’s no way of replacing immigrant labour with “indigenous” labour unless you force the unemployed to take those jobs at the same wages! The UK needs MORE workers, not less.

i suspect that is very much what they want to do
and also they assume that half the people currently on long term sick are perfectly fit to work (and in shortage occupations that rely on immigration - even though they are often very physically demanding jobs)

True. They will also miss the point that the private sector has specific skills-needs in specific regions that are unlikely to match the regions where there is unemployment and a skills mismatch.

they are all over the place with internal contradictions and inconsistencies and with completely unworkable, unrealistic, un-costed, un risk-assessed policy and overconfidence in areas where they have zero relevant expertise

Their lack of comprehension of the duties of local government is farcical, proven in their councils. But if they were in power I would be waiting for them to try what Cameron had to drop, which was ‘Get rid of statutory duties then, repeal the lot’. And probably relish the ensuing disaster.
